How the reading is worked out

Your natal chart is fixed. Every current transit is compared against it and placed into one of three useful categories.

Amplification means a planet is landing on a gate already in your chart. A new channel means a temporary connection is being completed. An activated gate means an open gate is being highlighted without forming a channel.

This is especially useful if you have a lot of open centres: it helps you see which energy is coming from the sky rather than quietly treating it as your own.

Gates in transit

How the three outcomes are worked out. Your natal chart (23 gates, computed from your exact birth moment) is fixed. Every transit lands in exactly one bucket:
Amplification: a transiting planet conjuncts a gate already in your chart.
New channel: a transiting gate completes a channel, either with one of your natal gates or with another gate currently in transit, temporarily defining a center that's normally open in your design.
Activated gate: an open gate is activated by a passing planet, with no channel connection to your chart.
Your five defined centers (G, Root, Sacral, Spleen, Throat) and six channels never move. What changes day to day is which gates and centers the sky is currently activating.

A center that's normally open in your chart can switch on two ways. One of your own natal gates can sit without its channel partner active anywhere else, leaving that connection dormant until a transit brings the missing partner into play. Or two planets currently in transit can simply happen to complete a channel between themselves, with no natal gate of yours involved at all. Either way, a live channel forms and the center(s) it touches switch on for as long as it lasts, temporary access to energy that isn't naturally always available to you.
